About Rani Laxmi bai Sports Academy

Rani Laxmibai Sports Academy (RLBSA), based in Mairwa, Siwan, Bihar, serves as the Regional Execution Partner (REP) for India Khelo Football (IKF), leading grassroots talent scouting and trial execution in the region. During Tyger IKF Season 5 (May–June 2025), RLBSA successfully hosted the Siwan leg of the trials for girls born between 2008 and 2015, marking a historic 100% women-led initiative, where girls managed planning, operations, scouting, and coaching. The collaboration aims to create a clear professional pathway for aspiring footballers by connecting them to IKF’s broader ecosystem, including national finals and potential club opportunities. Founded in 2009 by Sanjay Pathak, the academy was established to challenge social taboos and promote girls’ participation in sports. Over the years, more than 200 girls have competed at the national level, with 60+ winning medals across disciplines. In late 2025, six RLBSA players were selected for the Bihar National Junior Girls Football Championship team, with standout player Anshu Kumari appointed as captain, reinforcing the academy’s strong grassroots impact and leadership in women’s sports development

Activities with IKF

India Khelo Football (IKF), in collaboration with Rani Laxmibai Sports Academy (RLBSA), conducted Season 5 trials in Siwan for the first time, exclusively dedicated to girls’ football. This special edition of the trials was uniquely girls-only — conducted by girls and led by girls, including leadership representation from the IKF team itself. The initiative strongly reflected IKF’s belief in creating focused platforms for women in football, ensuring equal opportunity, leadership exposure, and safe, empowering environments for aspiring female athletes. The trials witnessed participation from around 50 girls, out of which 18 players were selected for the Zonal level, highlighting both the depth of emerging talent in the region and the importance of dedicated girls-only scouting platforms in strengthening women’s grassroots football development.
